- These release notes describe the Fortran
- Development portion (_f_t_n__d_e_v) of the 7.2 Fortran
- 77 and Fortran 90 compilers from Silicon
- Graphics, Inc. This portion includes header
- files and libraries necessary for development
- which are common to both compilers. For more
- information about these compiler products please
- refer to the _f_t_n_7_7__d_e_v, _f_7_7__f_e, _f_9_0__f_e, and
- _f_t_n_9_0__d_e_v release notes respectively.

- product (the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s subsystem), you can view
- the release notes on your screen.

- If you have a graphics system, select ``Release
- Notes'' from the Tools submenu of the Toolchest.
- This displays the _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) graphical browser
- for the online release notes.

- If you are installing this option for the first
- time, the subsystems marked ``default'' are the
- ones that are installed if you use the ``go''
- menu item. To install a different set of

- subsystems, use the ``install,'' ``remove,''
- ``keep,'' and ``step'' commands in _i_n_s_t to
- customize the list of subsystems to be
- installed, then select the ``go'' menu item.

- 1.4.1 _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__M_e_t_h_o_d All of the
- subsystems for Fortran 90 can be installed using
- _i_n_s_t from IRIX. You do not need to use the
- miniroot. Refer to the _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e
- _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e for complete installation
- instructions.

- IMPORTANT: ftn_dev is required for Fortran 77
- and Fortran 90. ftn_dev should not be removed
- from the system unless ftn77_dev and ftn90_dev
- are removed.
